Porous titanium (sintered titanium, titanium foam) is in many fields, like the pharmaceutical industry, water treatment industry, food industry, biological engineering, chemical industry, petrochemical industry, metallurgical industry and gas purification, etc. Porous titanium also can be used as a Gas Diffusion Layer (PDL) in new generation fuel cells (PEMFC).

Properties of porous titanium (sintered titanium):
1. Uniform structure, narrow pore size distribution, high separation efficiency.

-Porous titanium sheet & porous stainless steel sheet can be used as a gas diffusion layer (GDL) in Polymer-Electrolyte-Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC).
-Porous Titanium sheets & tubing can be assembled as titanium filters, can be used for filtration under high temperature & corrosive environments.
-Porous Titanium can be coated with Pt and others, which can be used as an anode

Porous titanium plate is available in a variety of fuel cell operating temperatures, and also can be coated with platinum or another catalyst layer to enhance performance. Along with porous metal titanium plate is a leading choice of gas diffusion layer or electrode plate for high-performance electrolyzer and fuel cell. They have uniform porosity, strength, and better corrosion resistance and can provide superior performance. 

The electrode plate is a crucial component in the electrolysis chamber for a water ionizer. The materials of the electrode not only increases the efficiency of electrolysis, but it can also contaminate the water, corrosion, oxidation, and degradation of the electrodes are common problems with electrolysis. Once the electrodes undergo deterioration, it may adversely affect one’s health.

Platinum coated titanium electrode is mostly employed in water electrolysis recently. As an inert material, platinum does not react with the electrolytes or products during electrolysis. It also offers excellent electrical conductivity enable to increase the longevity of the machine.

Along with use medical-grade titanium as the base material, adopts nano-plating technology to coat the platinum. Nano plating provides more surface area and denser coating to create the best ORP alteration and durability. Other manufacturers use a specialized dip and spray application, which leaves the surface rough to the touch. The electrode is both sides coated; this reversing polarity design enables continuous cleaning, the electrode plates to remain free of calcium or scale build-up which allows for the most efficient water ionization.
